Ok, this is weird… I’m actually apart of the people posting news AS it happens… This is weird. But, to business. I was strolling down my twittah machine like I do, and I noticed Zach Snyder posted a tweet about him taking a picture; low and behold it was our first glimpse of the new Batsuit and Batmobile for the Superman vs Batman Movie. This actually excited me, because no matter what I’m a DC fanboy to the core. They have upset me with the role’s actor, but that’s another post, I wanted to see how Zach would portray the Dark Knight and his trusty steed. It did not disappoint in scale and awe…. But, I do have a few issues with it… If you avert your gaze below, I’ve supplied the picture from the initial tweet.

Epic, am I right? Great mastery of the darknees of Gotham (which apparently is where this set is suppose to be) from the fog, to the joker graffiti subtly in the back. The scene must be the intro of the caped crusader. Now, if you look at the like 15th reinvention of Gotham’s favorite son you can see where he made the changes to what we know and love. Some changes are needed and some are kinda making me , not upset but, uneasy I’ll say that. So if you’re like me, you first notice the ears. This, and don’t quote me on it, will be a big thing for some people. This was a promise from Snyder to keep it old school, and he has. The ears are an obvious nod to the Adam West Bats, and some renditions of the comics. But if you also remeber, this is suppose to be a Frank Miller style of Batman, he had short ears. See…

So that I get, the overall look of the suit is one of kinda a cloth like material.. Not the leather or neo-tech like armor that we have been seeing in the other movies. So that too is pulling it’s premise from the comic world. Batman has always baffled me about that, until the movies came out, how he never put on any armor but was able to go up against super powered villains. But I digress, so what is it I don’t like about the suit you may ask? Firstly, where is the bat symbol? C’mon Zach… I can see a vague outline of it on his chest but its so blended in with the suit its barely there. I had to actually think about “Oh, wait where is it?” it should be the first thing you see though. Also his body structure is too much, like the muscle tone and the veins popping out his arms, its too comic book if I say so. And when did we decide to go back to a no neck batman? Like we JUST got away from that and we gave Christian Bale the ability to turn his head… So I guess we won’t be continuing that fad I see, lol. But he looks a bit hunched over, which again nod to Mr. Miller, but it doesn’t play well in live action I think. But overall it was a great first showing.

I have no issues with the batmobile, it’s like a perfect hybrid of old meets new. Like the batmobile from Batman and Robin and the Tumbler had a baby, HA! Like I can’t wait to see it in action.

I am still on the fence about this movie in general. With Man of Steel infuriating me with the destruction of Metropolis at Supes hands, and the announcement of Bat-ffleck, and not giving WW her own movie and sticking her in here with Cyborg. This gives me a little glimpse of hope, A LITTLE. But we shall see when this puppy hits theaters.
