Got The Block Wondering How She Does That?

If you would’ve told me that there would be a chick from Australia to come over and just flip the female Hip Hop on its ear, I wouldn’t really believe what sorcery you speak. Or, I think I would because of my sheer respect and love of Macklemore. But besides the point, I have been really disappointed with the females in the rap game until this young lady has stepped through. If you haven’t figured it out by the obvious quote and the introduction to this here post I’m speaking of the lovely Iggy Azalea.

This chick here, is something else. To be honest she is the American Hip-Hop dream template. When I tell you a girl from Australia that dropped out of high school and got a job, saved her money and moved to America at 16 to pursue her dream of a music she knew little about but loved so much. You can’t write a better story than that. But she is taking the world by storm.

For me I can look past the cliché girl rapper, she extends so far beyond that. Her flow. her dare I say swag, has me seeing deeper. She initially came on to the scene in Florida and had some time there but she then moved to Texas and finally settled in ATL. So you can say she went on a southern rap crash course, and with those tools in her belt and the experiences she had developed a style all her own. She even caught the eye of the King of the South T.I, which is one of her biggest backers, and he is a great mentor to her. With that and the inspirations like Missy Elliot and Tupac, she was set for greatness.

I know that by now you’re probably sick of her number 1 and 2 hits playing on the radio by now, “Fancy ft. Charli XCX” and Arianna Grande’s “Problem Ft. Iggy Azalea”.  But I can’t seem to get her out of my head, you can also hit up some of her other amazing songs such as “Work”, “Pu$$y” and “Change Ya Life ft. T.I”. All great hits, she’s had two albums out Glory and the current one she is on tour for The New Classics. She also is a Model on the side, but who would blame her… Just look at her, she’s freaking gorgeous!

But with the golden age of the Queen Latifah’s and MC Lyte, Salt and Pepper, Missy Elliot(s), Lil Kim(s) and Foxy Brown gone, who do we really have in the female rap game to put us on notice since Ms. Minaj? Like I give all props to Nikki but I think its been time enough for the head Barbie in charge to get some real competition. Like ask yourself, who really has been up there and she’s really won the awards by default.  But she actually has the lyrical content to back up her amazing body and cute face. You gotta admit, the summer is hers this year and with more singles to drop,

Maybe, just maybe we might have something with her, the last female rapper I put my hopes in was Remi Ma, and we will just leave it at that. I don’t know about her personal life but seems like she will be around for some time to come if she doesn’t go crazy. But this Australian chick might teach y’all a thing or two about the game. Man it felt good to get my WiseGuy Jukebox on, check our boy out by the way, but we should do this again sometime.
