You know how you have that one person that you had breif memory of, but you felt as if your time was just too quick? Well that’s what we have here… Next up is the Eighth Doctor Paul McGann, this Doctor only had one on air apperance but with the cult community and the creative geniuses behind Who, this Doctor found a way to live for so long.
After the show was actually cancelled in 1989, it took them until 1996 for them to have a script and a pilot to go unto the air… And it still didn’t last well. But even when one door closes another page turns. This Doctor was big within the novels and still has some audio-dramas where you can live out the Time Wars.
He was the Doctor that really lived and died through the Time Wars. Whenever you see that bit of a war weathered look in the eyes of the Doctors after him, he is why. He’s seen some shit, but the one thing we never got was a regeneration. Until last year, they heard our cries but also gave us something so much more. So we all believed that Paul McGann regenerated into Chris Eccleston but they showed that he actually turned into John Hurt, The War Doctor, in the great short “The Night Of The Doctor”. This was one of the best performances the Paul has given that I’ve seen. It shows you how bad the Time War had gotten, to where nobody trusted ANY Time Lord, not even The Doctor. It made it to a point where the he felt a Doctor was no longer needed.
I Promise you Paul, The Doctor will always be needed and I for one want to thank you for making The Doctor the man he is today.
