Casual Cosplay: When Lightening Strikes

DyedBelle is back from her self-imposed hiatus. Have you missed me? I missed you readers! But I’ve been doing some serious shopping. In fact my account is probably crying, but at least my closet isn’t crying anymore! Enough about me, let’s get to the real reason we all came here. Fashion!!

I received a Storm shirt in the mail today and it inspired me. I love storms made of thunder and lightning. The perfect symphony to fall asleep to in my opinion. However, since I had already covered her in a previous post I couldn’t dare think to post another casual cosplay for her. That would be such a disservice to you all.

So what other characters of color do I know of dealing with lightning and thunder? Well three instantly came to mind. Static Shock, and Black Lightning’s daughters Thunder and Lightning. I figure that since it’s nearing the weekend, lets think of some good play outfits. Rompers are always fun and can go from day to-night. In this case I chose the day option for each sister. Along with matching belt and appropriate flats, with just a change of a shoe they can go to-night. I figured since they are related they wouldn’t mind wearing at least the same earrings with signifies each of their strengths. Thunder and Lightning 😉

Now what happens when you have lightning and thunder in a storm? Well you experience a lot of Static Shock. See what I did there? It’s also recently been confirmed that Jaden Smith will be donning the threads to play this legendary character. Static Shock, also known as Virgil Hawkins, has origins I find interesting because he wasn’t originally a DC character in the beginning. So the crossover to the DC universe was pretty neat. Onward to the clothing section. In my mind Virgil is chilling with the sisters, so he’ll need to be able to have an outfit that can go from day to-night as well. The polo shirt is navy blue even though it shows up black here. Then a simple cardigan some black khaki shorts and a gold and black time piece to show off. Lets be honest guys Static’s shoes were always loud. So there’s no way to really get around it, but it is a casual cosplay so we’ve got to be bold in our choices somewhere right?!
