Hey all you fashionerds and fashionerdetts, Dyedbelle coming at you for what to wear for geeky hotness as the temperature rises. It’s spring but don’t put away all your layers yet, there’s still a little winter chill around these parts. Color hues are slowly starting to brighten up. Personally, I love to wear my standard black ALL year long. However, black can get hot really fast. So where can we find inspiration for celebrating the Earth’s renewal instead of a few fashion walk ways? Lost on what colors to wear? Here’s a tip: I take a peak at Pantone every once in a while.

“I don’t follow the fashion runways, so DyedBelle how can I find what’s appropriate to me?” Well I’m glad you asked. I like to check whats going on for spring releases in the Geek universe.

This week I’ll start you off with a color palette and where to get your inspiration from.

Notice how the men’s colors and just a few shades darker than the women? Heck, even some of the shades overlap. Wear all of these colors at once and you’re at risk of looking like an easter egg. Don’t worry I won’t let that happen. These are just suggestions, certainly not mandates that you must wear. I enjoy clothes and color and don’t mind taking risks, but sometimes people just don’t know where to start and that’s ok. Lets be honest the runway isn’t always impressive or relatable to real life.

I think what we see and what we relate to more often is. This will soon come to sound like a broken record but fashion inspiration is every where around you. LOOK FOR IT ALWAYS!! For the examples featured below I’ve chosen a couple of my favorite obsessions for inspiration.

For me those inspirations come from iZombie, Daredevil, and Final Fantasy Type Zero. Now pause for the cause. Let me do a huge disclaimer: I’m not a gamer and won’t pretend I am to try to seem cool, that’s lame, but I’ve included it to show that fashion inspiration can be found from all of your interests. Side note: if you want to geek out about games check out my friends at The Arcade they’ll have fun with you 🙂 anyways back to fashion.

iZombie just premiered last week on the CW and promotions so far have showcased nothing but pastel colors with hints of dark ones to tone it down. Even in this poster we’ve got 3 of our spring-board colors: Magenta purple, Placid blue, and Cayenne.

Daredevil is set to premiere April 10th. I’m on the edge of my seat waiting in anticipation. Check out the trailer here. All the shades of Hemlock, Comfrey green, and Paloma grey tossed up in the trailers caught my attention how about yours? The pale greens and grey seemed to be a recurring theme reflected in Hells Kitchen. Not only as a sign that the city is supposed to be on the brink of death, but as a sign that there is a chance of rebirth and hope. Mostly my opinion, but you can carry that optimism into spring as well.

We can just dissect the logo alone and find half of the forecasted colors from Pantone from the Celosia orange, Cayenne, even the radiant orange, purple haze and the placid blue, definitely covering most of the paler shades of spring.

Now that we’ve found our places of inspiration. Here’s some ideas of what we could make work.
